Personal Statement

The Computer Designing Course allows me to further explore the many different media to present ideas and to guide me towards a career that can help guide and represent different concepts in the lives of individuals and society. Computer Design is an opportunity that allows me to gain a greater understanding and pathway into the design industry through the use of the rapidly growing digital world of this generation, through mobile apps and the entertainment industry of games. This inspires me to share content and ideas to a new world to help work towards making a better and convenient world for now and the future.

During my school's career test, my results revealed that my visual awareness and skills were over 90% and I constantly tried to implement this strength to my work and presentations in class and study. I am always open to learn and discover new design formats and techniques to create designs from sources online, in art shows, professionals or friends who share the same interests. I have and am practicing my skills and understanding in the basis of traditional art like drawing, ink and paint, seen through my Art Major as well as a personal hobby. At the moment, with equipment and CAD programs like Wacom drawing tablets, photoshop, illustrator and sketch up I have implemented these emerging technologies in my practice in creating and sharing my ideas, demonstrated in my Design and Technology Major with model making. During my schooling years, I was awarded the Annual Visual Arts Exhibition Senior Prize in 2016, Academic Excellence in 2017 and First Place in Design and Technology in 2018.

Awards at School

I constantly try to volunteer and participate in many opportunities in the design industry by attending workshops, competitions and work. In 2017 I participated with a group of 5 students, 4 professionals in design and coding in the company Atlassian in their ShipIt40 Competition where multiple groups make products in two days and try to propose ideas to the company through a series of 3 rounds and the winner can make their proposal real. Together we created a functional demo mobile app that dog owners to easily access and find people to walk their dogs, in the end, we were placed 21st in the finals. For its convenient and unique style as well as effective presentation style that was simple and engaging. Later that year I attended other workshops like the Commonwealth 'Amaze' that allowed people to see and interact with new technologies that the bank was investing in, for example, a Virtual Reality app that creates a stencil and allows people to learn how to draw and paint. Finally, I was able to apply for an internship job at AIT (Australian Information Technology) for a week that allowed me to learn the behind the scenes work life of designers, their tasks and learn skills with coding and designing with CAD programs when supervising and assisting a children's coding program.
